The allure of George Best
There are now a million stories out there about the long slow slide into death of George Best. I didn't know all that much about him. But it sounds like he was
quite an amazing character.
His tragic story is like so many other talented blokes. They have this amazing talent, and along with that comes a kind of curse: an inability to restrain themselves from enjoying sensual pleasures like sex, drugs and booze.
The thing I find interesting is not just the self-destructiveness of a bloke like Best, but the fact that women find "bad boys" like him so attractive. Feminists, among others, like to argue that women are more sensible than men. But the fact that blokes like Best are so perennially attractive to women disproves that theory, I think.
Were women attracted to him because of his wildness, or because they thought they could tame him? I reckon it was mainly because of the first reason.
iPorn the next big thing
Not so long ago the iPod was cutting edge. Now we have
the iPorn.
With this small hand-held device people can watch explicit sex scenes whenever and wherever they choose. This is going to cause problems, for instance when a bored commuter wants to enjoy a bit of eye candy on the train-ride home.
And a day will come when they will be banned in cars. Driving while talking on your mobile is already outlawed. But driving and using an iPorn would be far more dangerous. At least with the mobile you have
one free hand left ...
Sex "therapy"
In Wales, an unscrupulous shrink has exploited a patient's vulnerability to get sex from her. It's not the first time this has happened. Stories like this pop up pretty regularly
in the media.
How anyone could even
contemplate doing something like that -- let alone going through with it -- is completely beyond me. What also amazes me is how these guys can get away with it for so long without anyone knowing. I suspect it's due in part to the high level of respect that the profession still has in the community.
You'd think that his career would be over completely. Not necessarily. As the article states:
But, although he was given the maximum suspension by his professional body on Monday, a loophole means he can still practise.
Amazing.
Sex life inspires sitcom
Ashton Kutcher is developing a sitcom based on his unorthodox relationship with the
middle-aged Demi Moore.
Well, at least he sees the funny side!
I think there's something more than a bit weird about an older woman with such a young man. It's a bit like when you see older men with younger women. I don't want to sound like a prude, but I just don't think it's healthy.
Clearly, the older partner has all the power, because they've seen so much more of life. It's like they're taking advantage.
I suspect it's usually only about sex for the oldies. (Or maybe just ego -- you know, having a pretty young thing on your arm.)
And I feel sorry for the pretty young things. Because usually they're not just in it for the sex. If they were, they'd go for someone as young and dumb as they are.
Personally, I think that the relationship that inspired this particular sitcom will be over before the first season is.
About this blog ...
This is a continuation of a blog
I started elsewhere. Unfortunately the server for that hosting service is unreliable, and it's extremely frustrating to be unable to post when I'm in the mood to blog.
So, I thought it best to keep it going elsewhere.
So, what's this blog about? Well, it's basically a mostly humorous look at the seamy side of human nature. So, it's about sex, but it's not absolutely full of it (as some blogs are!).
Posting soon.
